DR. BARRY M. BELLER Dr. Barry M. Beller passed away on October 2nd, 2018 in Santa Fe NM. Born in NYC, he was graduated from Stuyvesant High School, Columbia College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. His post-doctoral training in cardiology was at the University of Chicago. He served in the US Air Force as head of the cardiac catheterization lab at Wilford Hall Hospital, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio TX. After teaching at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Beller returned to San Antonio to help start the University of Texas San Antonio School of Medicine as the head of cardiology and held the Joe and Harry Freeman Endowed Chair professorship. He published numerous papers throughout his academic career. When in private cardiology practice, Dr. Beller served on the boards of the San Antonio Symphony, the Heart Association and the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio, and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and Performance Santa Fe boards in Santa Fe. He was one of the founders of KPAC, the 24 hour public classical music station in San Antonio. He enjoyed restoring antique autos, music and art and was a prolific photographer. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and many wonderful friends. Donations may be made to the Natalie and Barry Beller Audition Fund for Apprentices at the Santa Fe Opera or the Southwest School of Art in San Antonio.
