1926 - 2024
Margaret T Ogas of Santa Maria passed away peacefully at Marian Hospital with her loving family by her side on August 22, 2024 at the age of 98 years. She was born in Deming, New Mexico on March 28, 1926. Margaret married the love of her life, Louis A Ogas, on December 11, 1940, and they raised their two children in Santa Maria.
Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandparent. She cherished spending time with her family, always had a positive attitude, was passionate about learning, and encouraged doing your best. It was important for Margaret to have a positive impact on people in need. She was previously involved in various community organizations, including Mexican Ladies Social Club which hosted the Black & White Ball, American G.I. Forum Women's Auxiliary, and was a member of the Democratic Club of Santa Maria.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Mary, and her two sons, Luis and Robert. She is also survived by four cherished grandchildren: Marissa, Christalina, Luis, and Mateo; seven great-grandchildren Robert, Alyssa, Braydon, Mila, Max, Lucas, and Isabella; one great-great-grandchild Meilani.
The family is deeply grateful for the support and care given to Margaret, especially to staff at Villa Maria, Marian Hospital, loving caregivers, and Teresa Loya. A viewing will be held at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary at 10:30 am on August 29, 2024, followed by a private memorial service at 12:00 pm held by the family at the old Santa Maria Cemetery. Directly after the memorial service, a reception to honor and remember Margaret will be held at the Santa Maria Inn.
