Manuel A. Silveira, age 70, a longtime Santa Maria, CA, resident died May 28, 2021, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

He was born December 24, 1950, in Fail, Azores, the son of Manuel and Maria (Machado) Silveira. He moved to Santa Maria, CA, when he was 18 and then to Manhattan KS, in October 2020.

Manuel was a heavy equipment supervisor for Teixeira Farms for 30 years, retiring in 2016. He then worked for his cousin with Boa Vista Farms for three years.

Manuel was a sports fan and enjoyed football, baseball, basketball and soccer. He was a huge 49's and Dodger's fan and also LA Lakers fan. He enjoyed fishing, camping, BBQing and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and 4-H activities.

On August 27, 1997, in Santa Maria, CA, he was married to Dema Angeline "Pennie" Young. She survives of Manhattan. Additional survivors include his four children: Mike Silveira and his wife Amy, Michelle Silveira and Cristina Silveira all of Santa Maria, CA, and Aaron Silveira (Trina) of Manhattan; his sister Connie Carter of Santa Maria; seven grandchildren: Matthew, Tyler, Andrew, Cameron, Lily, Joseph and Remy; and one great grandson Jackson.

Manuel was preceded in death his parents Manuel and Maria; his brother Joe; and by Pennie's parents George and Faye Young.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 17th, at the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan, KS, with Father Frank Coady officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home to form a procession to the cemetery.
