Frederick Baker Bolster Obituary
Frederick Baker BolsterSARATOGA SPRINGS - Frederick Baker Bolster passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Saratoga Hospital following a short illness. Fred was born in Saratoga Springs on October 14, 1945 and was the son of the late George S. and Helen (Baker) Bolster, and brother of the late Suzanne Bolster Toussaint. He graduated from St. Peters Academy Class of 1964 and followed his Dad's footsteps into the US Navy where he served proudly until 1966. Upon returning home from the service, Fred went to work at Skidmore College in the boiler room and served there for an amazing 41 years. He retired in 2007 as the Chief Stationary Engineer. In his younger days, Fred loved to hunt and fish. He was loyal to the birds in his backyard, never letting his bird feeder go empty and to the neighborhood dogs who just knew he'd have a biscuit in his pocket. Upon retirement, Fred purchased a Harley Davidson motorcycle he meticulously cared for, and spent all of the following years enjoying the freedom his bike gave him to travel the roads and explore new places with his friends. As the grandchildren came along and started participating in sports activities, "Gramps" was passionate about getting to as many football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and field hockey games as he could. He became a mainstay at all their events and will be missed by kids, parents and coaches alike.Survivors include his wife Margaret Armstrong Bolster, their children Carolyn Bolster Peck, (Kevin) and John Suntler Bolster (Renee Galloway), his grandchildren Matthew F. Peck, Ryan J. Peck, Ty R. Bolster, Mia M. Bolster and Gavin W. Galloway, his brother-in-law Stephen R. Toussaint and sister-in-law Nancy L. Armstrong (Steven Finch).
