Shawn Patrick Dempsey MANCHESTER, NH - Shawn Patrick Dempsey, 52 of Manchester, NH, beloved father, brother, uncle and cousin departed this world on November 23, 2016 peacefully in his sleep while visiting family members in Boulder, CO for a ski vacation. We invite family and friends to celebrate Shawn’s life at the Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home located at 407 Bay Street Queensbury, NY on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 11am to 1pm. We look forward to sharing our memories of him during this time. Our friend and Pastor Dean Brown of Vantage Pointe Church, Queensbury will offer a special message and blessing for Shawn at 1pm. After the calling hours, we welcome friends and family to a reception at the Queensbury Hotel in downtown Glens Falls from 1:30-3pm. Shawn was the last born child of James R. and Patricia Dempsey in Glens Falls, NY on July 23, 1964. He attended Queensbury High School. He was currently an assistant to the executives at Procon Incorporated of Hooksett, NH and was a former manager of the Hickory Ski Center, Warrensburg. Shawn was a master imported auto mechanic and owned auto businesses in the Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs & New Lebanon, NY areas. Shawn proudly served in Pennsylvania Army and NY Air National Guard units, and was a devoted member of his churches, Grace Capital and Restoration Four Square of Concord, NH. He was deeply committed to helping others and volunteered his time to The Dempsey Challenge Cancer Center in Lewiston Maine and Teen Challenge of Manchester, NH. He enjoyed skiing, bicycling and restoring classic cars but most of all he loved people. He had one of the biggest hearts, and smiles of anyone we know and would lend a helping hand to anyone. His kind, gentle, loving spirit will reside with our God in heaven, and certainly through his beloved daughter, Alexandra. Shawn Patrick Dempsey is preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Patricia Dempsey, and his nephew Jack A. Strange. Shawn left behind his beloved daughter Alexandra Pellegrini of Tacoma, WA and her mother Juliet Pellegrini Van Horn of Charlotte, NC, his sister Shari Harris and brother-in-law Greg Harris of Dunnellon, FL, brother James R. Dempsey Jr and sister-in-law Jane Dempsey of Dexter, MI, sister Maura Mark and brother-in-law Ed Mark of Goleta, CA, and sister Kelly M. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Ryan Twombley of Boulder, CO, Adam Dempsey of Montgomery, AL, Erin Conrad of Elk Rapids, MI, Kendra Mark of Sedona, AZ, Erica Mark of San Francisco, CA and Lyndsay Blair Strange of Salt Lake City, UT. His Dempsey cousins Donna Calder, Tom Dempsey, Lorraine Dempsey Talbot, Steve Dempsey and Karen Dempsey Carney. His New Hampshire cousins, Gail Hannon, Sue Hannon Lyndes, Sheila McCullough, Jack Doheny, Diane Doheny and Tom “Bucky” Doheny. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Dempsey Challenge, Lewiston, ME or to your local animal shelter. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to some very special people to Shawn: Pastor Dale Jensen and his wife Susan, Pastor Kevin Trombly, Foursquare Church, Concord, NH, Clyde and Peggy Ronk of Greenfield Center, William Van Pelt IV, Houston, TX, Phil and Kate Goddard of Concord, NH, and Theresa Denatale of Queensbury for their loving and sustained support and friendship to Shawn over the years and a very special thank you to our New Hampshire cousins’ Bucky, Diane and Jackie Doheny for their kindness and loving embrace of Shawn into their family circle. We will miss you, Shawn but the call of heaven was stronger than that of this earthly plane. Until we meet again… “He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms.” Isaiah 40:1 For those who wish, online condolences may be made to the family by visiting sbfuneralhome.com.
