Patricia Titterton Obituary

SARATOGA SPRINGS-Patricia Titterton (1945-2021). Patricia (Pat) Titterton of Saratoga Springs, New York and Miami Beach, Florida died at home surrounded by her family on January 25, 2021. Pat had been battling cancer for nearly two years with the same mixture of grace, sardonic wit and bravery with which she faced all of life’s challenges. With her husband Lew and her two sons by her side, Pat passed peacefully out of this world and on to the “next phase,” as she liked to refer to it. Born Patricia Ann Reddy in Brooklyn, New York to the late John Reddy and the late Renee Reddy, Pat attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, where she majored in Theater Arts. She met her future husband Lew Titterton while living in New York, and in 1967 the couple married in Honolulu, where Lew was stationed in the Navy. Pat and Lew lived in Hawaii for the early years of their marriage, during which time Pat worked as a publicist for the local rock radio station. After Lew finished his service in the Navy, the couple settled in the Albany area, where they raised their two boys Chris and Jeff in a house they built on Nott Road in Rexford. After the boys left for college, they moved up to Saratoga Springs and eventually split their time between Saratoga and Miami Beach. Pat had a creative career that spanned many decades. An avid fan of the stage and the arts, Pat acted in many plays in the Capital District region. She helped found Capital Repertory Company in Albany, where she acted in a variety of productions, became a member of Actor’s Equity, and later ran publicity for the theater. She also worked as a theater critic and writer for many publications, including the Albany Times Union, The Saratogian, Metroland and others. She co-authored a book on basketry and a book on Capital Region cuisine. Pat was a member of the Saratoga Performing Arts for many years, and supported many arts organizations in the region, including the Skidmore Jazz Program. She loved attending live theater, music performances, and literary events. A knowledgeable and discerning art collector, she built a significant collection of eclectic modern art. Outside of her interest in the arts, Pat was passionate about children’s issues. She worked with the mentoring program of Catholic Charities, and was co-founder of the Saratoga Sponsor-A-Scholar mentoring program. Over her lifetime she worked with many disadvantaged children, helping them graduate from high school and college. Along with her husband Lew, Pat was part-owner of numerous thoroughbred racehorses through Sackatoga Stables, including 2003 Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide and 2020 Belmont winner Tiz the Law. Most of all, Pat was a warm and friendly person who was beloved by her family and friends. She had a gregarious personality and many friends. Pat is survived by Lew, her husband of 52 years; brother Dan Reddy; sons Chris and Jeff and their spouses Ann Marie Titterton and Sheldon Trimble; and grandchildren Emily, Jordan, Abby, Alex, and Smith. Her passion, creativity, and humor will live on in all of them. The family is planning a celebration for Pat in Saratoga in the summer of 2021 for family and friends. To: Lew, the family and friends of Pat Titterton,

I have always considered Pat and Lew as pillars of culture in the Capital Region, from their involvement with Capital Rep to the 2003 summer theater festival a Skidmore College to their active involvement in the "Sport of Kings" as partners in Sackatoga Stables. Although now gone from our midst, Pat leaves behind a lifetime legacy of achievement that has enriched the lives of everyone she touched along the way and who remain behind to mourn her loss.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of a very special lady.
