Dr. Louis Peter Leopold - SAVANNAH - Dr. Louis Peter Leopold, 87, of Savannah, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Savannah, Ga., and was a graduate of Savannah High School, Class of 1945. He was drafted into the U. S. Army, and then enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He frequently managed to get his self-fired, by his father, from Leopold's Ice Cream Parlor, so he could go to the Beach. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1951, with a Bachelor of Science Degree; and the Medical College of Georgia in 1955. He served his residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga., and his Internship at Macon Hospital in Macon, Ga. He was an avid University of Georgia Fan, past president of the Chatham County Exchange Club, and the First Physician in the Savannah Greek Community. He delivered 8000 babies in his 43 years of Practice. He was a member of the Rose Society, and an avid grower of Roses, and Orchids. He was a member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as Soloist in the Adult Choir. He was especially fond of his Boxers, and especially Penny. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Yeoman's Leopold, Savannah, Ga; 2 sons, Peter Louis Leopold , II., (LaDonna Wright), and Damon Louis Leopold (Michelle), both of Richmond Hill, Ga; daughter, Melanie Leopold Carter (Jeffrey) of Savannah, GA; brother, Stratton P. Leopold (Mary), Savannah, Ga; sister, Beki Leopold Petras of Ridgewood, New Jersey; 3 grandchildren, Tyler Leopold of Richmond Hill, Ga; Jessica Leopold, Baltimore, Maryland; and Jamie Tippins (Coy), of Reidsville, Ga; 2 step grandchildren, Emily Carter of Guyton, and Joshua Wright of Richmond Hill, Ga. Visitation: 6- 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home - Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Trisagion Service: 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Father Vasile Mihai, officiating. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, with Father Vasile Mihai, officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
