While in Jacksonville, Chuck met and married Vonice Anderson, his wife of 64 years. He was very active in the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church as a deacon, elder, Sunday school teacher, building chairman, treasurer and other capacities, and served with Meals on Wheels.

Chuck was also a member of the Senior Golf Blitz at Bacon Park Golf Club for many years which he enjoyed immensely, including having a hole-in-one.
