Judith Kay Fischer Obituary
Judith Kay Fischer, 78, of Tybee Island, Georgia, died early Tuesday morning, June 12, in her home surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Clintonville, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Cronce and the late Bessie Cronce. Ms. Fischer was a scholar, a teacher, a nurse, a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She was raised partly in Tacoma, Washington, and partly in Waukegan, Illinois. With her former husband, George Fischer, she raised four children in California while attending college and receiving highest honors when earning three separate degrees - a Registered Nursing degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and a Master of Arts degree in linguistics. Through her working career, she served as a college professor, a nurse and a director of infection control for a hospital.

After her retirement, Ms. Fischer relocated from California to Tybee Island, choosing a more serene life and to be close to her family. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Jung of Tybee Island; her son, George Fischer and his wife Joyce of Santa Maria, California; her son, Jerry Fischer and wife Gladys of Palos Verde Estates, California; and her daughter, Julie McCoy and her husband Chris of Savannah, Georgia. Ms. Fischer, who will be missed deeply by her entire family, left a legacy that stretches from California to Georgia and includes nine grandchildren, all of whom visited her prior to her death, and three great-grandchildren.

A kind, smart and beautiful woman, she was loved will be missed by all of those who knew her.

Her family will be holding a private graveside service in Libertyville, Illinois, where she will rest in peace beside her parents.
