Nicholas J. Soffa Jr.
On Saturday December 9th, Nicholas J. Soffa Jr. passed away in San Bernardino. He was born on August 6, 1930 in New London Wisconsin and moved to Rhode Island at an early age. In1948 he and his family moved to San Bernardino where he graduated from San Bernardino High School. After serving in the Military, Nick went to work for the Division of Highways, State of California, for twelve years. He then went to worked for Kasler Corp. for twenty two years retiring as Vice President in charge of estimating. Nick was involved in Masonic organizations, as a Rainbow Dad, a DeMolay Dad and received the Cross of Honor. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 178, Al Malaikah Shrine Temple, and Past President of the San Bernardino Shrine Club. He was also a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church in Van Nuys. During their 58 years of marriage, Nick enjoyed assisting his wife, with school and Santa Claus Inc. projects, as he loved helping to provide new experiences for children.
He is survived by wife Margaret; a son David Soffa, of Lincoln, CA; a daughter Leslie Klimowych (Bill), and grandchildren Nicholas and Stepanie, of Greenville, SC.
Services will be held at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 1035 Inland Center Road, San Bernardino, Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Montecito Memorial Park, 3025 Washington St. Colton.
