August 30, 1931 - November 29, 2018Joann Elizabeth Berg, 87 passed peacefully and went home to the Lord on November 29, 2018, surrounded by the family that loved her so very much.She was born Joann Carey, the eldest of three children on August 30, 1931 in Detroit, MI to James and Monica Carey. She grew up there, graduated from high school, worked for General Motors and went on to marry and have a family with James Berg, a Detroit police officer. In 1963 the family relocated to Southern California where they settled in Montclair. While raising her family, she also had a career with the County of San Bernardino Department of Social Services. Joann and James were married for more than 57 years.Joann's life was dedicated to her children and grand-children. She was a devoted mother and wife who always put others before herself. She was honest, sharp witted and always willing to give advice. Strong in her faith, she was generous and rarely said no to anyone. She was an intelligent woman who loved reading, crossword puzzles and Jeopardy.Joann is survived by her five children, Jim Berg (Wife-Wendy), Mary Kay Berg, Bill Berg, LizAnn James (Husband- Dennis), Eric Berg (Wife- Dina); and her five Grand Children, Stephen Dugan, Sean Dugan, Amanda Barraza, Cassie Thompson and Kenna Berg. Joann also had four Great Grand Children, Cooper, Caleb, Callie and Easton. Her brother James Carey and sister-in-law Fran still reside in Michigan.A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Monday December 10, 2018 at 11:30am. 10191 Central Ave, Montclair, California.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a .
