1934 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Patricia K. Murphy Patricia passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in her home on August 22, 2018 in East Highland Ranch, CA after a 15 year battle with congestive heart failure. She was 84. Pat was born April 3rd, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI to her parents, John J. and Corinne A. Krill. She graduated from Mount Mary University with a degree in Occupational Therapy, interned at La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago, IL and served as an Occupational Therapist at Rockland State Hospital in Orangeville, NY. October 5, 1957 Pat married her loving husband of 60 years Gerard D. Murphy. The Murphy's lived their early years together in Wauwatosa WI and moved to Ft. Knox where she worked at the Officers Club for the U.S. Army. After moving to Chicago in the early 1970's Pat began her lifelong service to the ministries of the Catholic Church. Her energy and talents were devoted to RCIA Programs, Renew Programs, Eucharistic Ministry, CCD classes, and Funeral Ministry. She provided supportive listening through Stephen Ministry and led numerous Small Faith Communities. The larger community benefitted from her volunteer work with Redlands Family Service Association and Christian Counseling Service. Her passion for helping others was always driven by her faith. Patricia Murphy was a talented, caring and patient person. Her loving heart was evident to all she met. Family and friends were nourished in body and spirit at her table. In addition to service of her faith she enjoyed professional floral design, sewing, reading, tennis and was always up for new challenges whether they be with helping people or picking up a new hobby or sport. Pat is survived by her husband Gerard D. Murphy, two daughters, Maura and Mary Murphy, son Dan and his wife Esther, three grandchildren; Megan, Cameron and Chelsea and her 18 nieces and nephews. She was greeted into eternal life by her brothers Richard, Jack and sister Rosemary. The Murphy family will be hosting a Vigil Service at Cortner Funeral Home in Redlands CA Thursday August 30th between 5:00PM and 7:30PM where a special Rosary by Deacon Mike Bellinder will begin at 6:00PM. Funeral Mass will be held in Patricia's honor Friday August 31st at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church at 10:30AM. The family respectfully requests in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Holy Name of Jesus Church Building Fund or Redlands Family Services Association.
