Roger Schmidt Obituary
Roger L. Schmidt passed away April 30. He was 87. He graduated from San Bernardino High then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of San Bernardino Valley College, the University of Redlands, and Claremont Graduate School. He taught at SBVC and Crafton Hills College from 1963-1993. He was the author of college texts on religion as well as books on the history of SBVC. After retiring from SBVC, he served as Dean of Academic Affairs and as President of the University of the West.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, sons Leigh Eric and Jeffrey, daughters-in-law Marie Griffith and Jennifer Schmidt, five grandchildren, and by his brother, Gene W. Schmidt.
Memorial Service will be at the First United Methodist Church, 1 East Olive, Redlands on May 19 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the SBVC Foundation for the Roger Schmidt Scholarship Fund at San Bernardino Valley College, 701 So. Mt. Vernon, San Bernardino, CA 92410 .
