Mary Ann Cox, 46, of Allentown and formerly of Minersville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday at her residence.

Born in Pottsville, March 23, 1968, she was a daughter of the late William R. and Helen M Platko Cox.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School, Class of 1987, earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree at St. Joseph University, Philadelphia, and completed the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Program at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was employed as a nurse anesthetist at Anesthesia Specialists of Bethlehem PC, St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by brothers, William R. Jr., on June 10, 1973, and Charles, on Aug. 17; and infant siblings.

Mary Ann is survived by six sisters, Madonna, wife of William Wachendorfer, Warminster, Elizabeth, wife of John Bosak, Camden, Del., Elaine Carboni and Patricia Moore, both of Drums; Helene Moore, Port Carbon, and Ann Marie, wife of John Worobey, Hampton, N.J.; a brother, Robert Cox, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service of the Great Panachida will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, with the Very Rev. Francis Twardzik SDB officiating. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ss. Peter & Paul Memorial Fund. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
