Anna C. Lex, 97, of Ringtown, passed away Saturday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street.

Born in Pheeneyville, June 18, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Margaret Frye Deebel.

She was a graduate of the former Sheppton High School, Class of 1938.

Anna was well known throughout the Ringtown Valley for her talent as a church organist, playing at all the area churches in her career. For the last 17 years, she was the church organist for St. John's Lutheran Church, Ringtown and Brandonville.

She was employed as a Marrow Machine Operator for the former Connie Fashions Co., Shenandoah, until her retirement.

Anna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ringtown, where she was active in the Dorcas Class, Bible Class and the Ladies Aide.

She was a member of the Ringtown Senior Citizens, International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She loved farm animals and growing her garden.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Lex, in 1999; a daughter, Jane Shoup; a grandson, David Shoup; brothers, Harry, Russell, Henry and Allen.

Surviving are four sons, John Lex and his wife, Joan, Bowie, Md., Lamar Lex and his wife, Karen, Ringtown, Charles Lex and his wife, Kay, Ringtown, and Robert Lex and his wife, Estelle, Aristes; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church, 106 W. Main St., Ringtown. Officiating will be the Rev. Jay Serafin, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
