Sister Martina Revak, OSB, 82, a Benedictine Sister of Emmanuel Monastery in Lutherville, Md., passed away Dec. 26 at Maria Health Care Center at Villa Assumpta, Baltimore, Md.

Sister Martina (Anna Marie Revak) was a daughter of the late Anna Hanzok and John Revak.

She attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School, Minersville High School, Ford Business School of Pottsville, Pennsylvania State University Extension and the American Institute for Paralegal Studies, Muhlenberg College, Allentown. Prior to entering the monastery, she worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Isodore Krasno.

Sister entered St. Joseph's Monastery, St. Mary's, Pa., Aug. 26, 1962. She ministered as assistant administrator at Elk County Christian High School. Sister became sub-prioress in 1975 and elected prioress of the community in 1978-87. In 1998, she, along with two other sisters, established Transfiguration Monastery, Emmaus.

She is survived by her Benedictine Sisters, and brother, Joseph A. Revak, D.M.D., M.A.S, and wife, Diane; sister, Judith Revak Hoffman and husband, Richard, their daughters, Lisa Appleby and husband, William, Llewellyn, and Maria Meyers and husband, Todd, and their three children, Zachary, Scott and Thomas, Greensburg; cousins in Minersville, Allentown and Connecticut.

Visitation at Emmanuel Monastery was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, wake service and sharing of memories was 6 to 7 p.m., Mass of Resurrection was offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Villa Assumpta, 6401 N. Charles St., Baltimore. Interment at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made in memory of Sister Martina to the Benedictine Sisters of Baltimore, 2229 W. Joppa Road, Lutherville, MD 21093.
