Mary Kelly, 82, of Girardville, passed away Monday at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville.

Born June 29, 1935, and raised in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Rosti Woodward.

She worked for many years at Ashland State Hospital and retired in 1992. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Girardville, Catholic Daughters of America, Ashland State Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.

Mary was known for her kind and friendly nature, engaging in having fun with family and friends, especially if it involved ice cream.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 37 years, Joseph J. Kelly, in 2016. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Tina Vaughn, in 1978; brothers, John and Frederick Woodward, in 2016; a grandson, Richard Zaharick, in 2014.

Surviving are two daughters and a son, Sally, wife of Gregory Zaharick, Lisa, wife of Donald Metzinger, and William Zerby, all of Ashland; four brothers and two sisters, William Woodward, Camp Hill, Ann Marie Kelly, Ashland, Joseph Woodward, Ashland, David Woodward, Numidia, Gena Maurer and Frank Woodward, Ashland; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Girardville, with the Rev. Edward Connolly officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Viewing will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
