Robert A. Rumpf, 93, of Ash Road, Cass Township, passed away June 6 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street.

Robert was born in Ravine, March 8, 1925, a son of the late George and Mabel Knapp Rumpf. He was the widower of Beatrice "Pepper" Smolskis Rumpf.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He served in the Army in World War II, serving in Hiroshima, the Philippines and Australia. Upon discharge, he was squad leader with the 745th Infantry. He was a member of American Legion Post 544 and life member of Independent Hose Company.

In addition to his parents and his wife of 67 years, Beatrice, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Rumpf; sisters, June Strausser, Shirley Lehman, Josephine Smolskis and Anna Allison; a granddaughter, Sarah Purcell.

Robert is survived by a son, Robert Rumpf; two daughters, Barbara, wife of Bill Nevils, and Lori Bercher; a brother, Paul Rumpf, and a sister, Grace Rumpf. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dave, Amy, Vanessa, Corissa, Mike and Sarah; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the convenience of the family. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with the arrangements.
