Russell E. Reber, 91, of Orwigsburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Russ, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Pottsville, Jan. 17, 1928, a son of the late Verda Mae Reichert and Elmer Reber.

Russ was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven, and he served in the Army in World War II.

He worked 25 years as a manufacturing supervisor for Reneer Films, presently Omnova, retiring in 1990.

Russ loved family and friends. He enjoyed golf and winters in Florida. He especially loved his wife, Dorothy Freeman, who passed away November 2014, and whom he missed every day since.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Reynold, Robert, Darvin and Clair Reber.

Russ is survived by his son, Russell E. Reber Jr., husband of Caroline, of Fleetwood; two grandsons, Christopher Reber, of Wyomissing, and Thomas Reber, of Fleetwood; a sister, Betty Keenan, Pottsville.

A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Orwigsburg, with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Friends may gather from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
