Samuel T. Snyder, 71, of Vine Street, Ashland, passed away Saturday surrounded by his family at his residence.

Born in Locustdale, April 30, 1947, he was a son of the late Albert and Lorraine Shields Snyder Sr. Sam was being cared for in his home by his daughter, Bonnie, and his grandchildren, Diana and Derek Kranzel.

He attended William Tennent High School, Warminster, later he was employed for Keystone Screw Co., Willow Grove, and as a pressman for Standard Press Steel, Jenkintown. Moving back to Ashland, he was employed for the former Laubenstines Manufacturing Co. as a pressman, Ashland, and lastly as a coal miner for Bernitsky Coal Co., New Philadelphia, until his retirement.

He loved fishing, camping, and trips to Knoebels Amusement Park and playing with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Laura Facer, 2015, a brother, Albert Snyder Jr., 2018, grandson, Dawson Snyder, 1998, and a granddaughter, Tela Snyder, 1999.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Wampole Snyder, married 52 years; daughter, Bonnie Kranzel and her companion, Bill, Mount Carmel; daughter, Shelly "Pat," wife of Dan Snyder, Gordon; son, Tom Snyder, Ashland; son, Andrew Snyder, Mississippi; sister, Wanda Fishburn, Ashland; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial funeral service at 6 p.m. Friday in Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. Officiating will be the Rev. Rose Marquardt, pastor of Grace Evangelical Church, Locustdale. Calling hours start at 4 p.m. until service. Visit Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
