Sarah J. Stroble Umlauf, 106, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Home, Shenandoah.

Born in Ashland, Nov. 16, 1911, she was a daughter of the late George and Viola Bodman Stroble.

She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Independent Church, Locustdale, and the Ashland Senior Citizens.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry "Paul" Umlauf, in 1991; son, George Umlauf; sisters and brother, Mildred Welker, Helen Kober, Mary Gober, Pauline Bensinger, Jean Sener and Richard Stroble.

Surviving are a son and daughter, Paul, husband of Barbara Umlauf, Ashland, and Sallee Umlauf, Lake Wynonah; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Umlauf, Lancaster; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren.

A special thank you from the family to the Shenandoah Manor Nursing Home for their great care.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, with the Rev. Rose Marquardt officiating. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Grace Church, Main Street, Locustdale, PA 17945, or to Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901(Joe & Carolyn Fund).
