Dolores B. "Dee" Yurdock, 80, born in Pottsville, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, in Penney Farms, Fla.

She enlisted in the Navy after graduation from Pottstown High School. Upon her military retirement as a Legalman Senior Chief, U.S. Naval Reserve, after serving 22 years, five years active service and 17 years in the reserves, she received the Navy Commendation Medal. Upon her civil service retirement as a paralegal from the Naval Legal Service Office Detachment, Orlando, Fla., she received the Department of the Navy's Superior Civilian Service Medal.

As a resident of Penney Farms Retirement Community, Penney Farms, Fla., since 2004, she served as a volunteer tax counselor for AARP Tax Aide program and as a spiritual care hospice volunteer for Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. As a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Green Cove Springs, Fla., she served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, Eucharistic Visitor and Lay Reader.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Anthony and Margaret Yurdock and aunt, Gladys Kowalski.

She is survived by her best friend, Ann Colisky, Penney Farms, Fla.; aunt, Pearl Green, Wilmington, N.C.; aunt, Florence Ann Bound, Kaska; uncle, Don Parry, Aiken, S.C.; uncle, James Parry, Kaska, and special cousin, John Franko, Port Carbon.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 31 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 400 Saint Johns Ave., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. Her remains will be buried at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, Green Cove Springs, Fla., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, send donations to St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
