Diana A. Reedy Chattin Obituary

Diana A. (Reedy) Chattin, 69, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 1, at Riddle Hospital, Media, after a brave fight with COVID-19, days before her 70th birthday. The family was able to "zoom meet" with her the day before she died.

Born in Pottsville to Mildred "Mim" and Edward "Gerry" Lecher, Diana lived at Laurel Terrace for many years, beloved to many who remember her love of walking through town. She lived since 2011 at Elwyn, a wonderful nursing home for the deaf in Media, found by excellent staff at Pottsville Senior Services.

Diana loved her family more than anything in the world.

She was a proud graduate in 1968 from PA School for the Deaf, Philadelphia. She kept many friends from there and attended the 50th reunion. She loved to attend deaf services at Trinity Lutheran Church, especially Christmas. As a member of Eagles Club and African American Coalition of Schuylkill County, she made deep friendships and danced a lot! Diana received the Republican Herald by mail, and read it all every day, keeping close watch on her beloved Hometown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, "Pete" Chattin; siblings, Michael and Deborah Reedy.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Reber; brothers, Edward and Andrew Lecher and Edward Reedy; nieces and nephews, including Anna Reedy, who visited her many times recently; cousins, including Lori Shollenberger, who was her guardian and advocate since 2007.

A memorial will be held as soon as possible. She'll rest with her parents in Calvary Cemetary, Hillside. The family is seeking help to defer expenses for these arrangements and for a headstone.
