Charles Arthur Gurski Obituary

Charles Arthur Gurski, 87, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, at home.

Born Oct. 11, 1932, in Forestville, he was a son of the late Anthony and Helen Zulick-Gurski-Razzi.

Charles was a member of the local Boy Scouts and graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School, Class of 1950. Soon after high school, Charles enlisted in the Air Force, retiring after more than 28 years of service to his country, rising to the rank of senior master sergeant. As an Air Force information manager, he was assigned to Bermuda, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, Japan, Illinois, Hawaii and Washington, D.C., receiving numerous awards and decorations for his dedicated service. He was a proud member of Air Force Sergeant's Association and an active member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven, where he learned and practiced his love of all things God.

Charles "Hoss" was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman who loved to hunt, fish, garden, play softball and coach Little League baseball. He was also the number-one fan of his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing these lifelong loves with everyone he came in contact with.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are his beloved wife of 61 years, Joyce; sister, Gladys Gehrig; grand-niece, Alicia Gurski; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates and friends.

He is survived by one brother, Anthony Gurski and his wife, Jeanne; three sons, Rodney and wife, Lillie, Randy and wife, Doris, and Richard Gurski; one daughter, Robin Heeley and husband, John; four granddaughters, Melissa Richards and husband, Trevor, Melanie Dearlove and husband, Justin, Kristen Jolivette and husband, Jason, and Lauren Heeley; two grandsons, Matthew Gurski and Nicholas Heeley; five great-granddaughters, Abigail, Madeleine and Olivia Richards, and Sophie and Olivia Jolivette; three great-grandsons, Gabriel Jolivette and Owen and Levi Dearlove; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. To extend online condolences, visit www.gsesfuneralhomes.com.
