Robert Ray Readinger Obituary

Robert Ray Readinger, 89, of Bethel Road, Pine Grove, passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family.

Bob or Legend, as he was known by his family and friends, was born March 11, 1931, in Pine Grove, a son of the late Ray and Mabel

Schnoke Readinger.

He was a 1949 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a graduate of Williamsport Technical School after returning from serving in the military. He was a member of Hetzel's UCC, Pine Grove.

Bob was an Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

He worked for 32 years for the former Graffius Burial Vault Co., Sinking Spring.

Bob was a life member of Pine Grove Lions Club and was a past District Governor, Pine Grove VFW Post 3432, Rock Fish & Game, a social member of Camp Phil-up, and had been active in Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and going to the cabin.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Naomi E. Biddle Readinger; a sister, Betty Whitehouse; a stepbrother, Clifford Schnoke.

Surviving are two sons, David and wife, Diane Readinger, and Donald Readinger; two daughters, Deberah and husband, David Fritz, and Darla and husband, Scott Hamilton, all of Pine Grove; 14 grandchildren, Ben, Valerie, Cassandra, Jonathan, Timothy, Sarah, Laura, Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas, Michael, Christiane, Kelli and Chloe; five great-grandchildren, Reiley, Victoria, Levi, Finley and Jade; a stepsister, June Burgard, of Palmyra.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in Hetzel's Cemetery, 261 Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove, with Pastor John Reis officiating. There will be a viewing from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to Hetzel's UCC Memorial Fund, 261 Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963, in his memory.
