Carol Jeanne Mills Obituary

Carol Jeanne Mills, 81, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Oct. 5, 2020, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

She was born July 28, 1939, to William and Evelyn (Shaw) Lindsay in Chicago, Ill.

Carol enjoyed her career as a nurse, working at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Chicago, and then as a missionary at an orphanage near Monterrey, Mexico.

On Aug. 22, 1970, she married Lance Mills. For 35 years, she was a faithful pastor's wife, living and ministering by his side in various churches throughout Pennsylvania. She loved children and taught Good News Clubs in her home for many years. She lovingly cared for her husband during his declining years due to Alzheimer's.

In 2011, she moved to Olathe, Kansas, to be near her oldest daughter, Janey. She was a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, Kansas. She particularly enjoyed time with family and friends. In 2016, she moved to Good Samaritan Nursing Home, where she continued to share the love of Christ with everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.

Carol is survived by her loving children, Janey Currey (Nathan), Rita Barillas (Gerardo) and Rebekah Daye (David); her grandchildren, Emily and Jonathan Fictorie, Josh, Rebekah and Meghan Currey, Alejandra, Mateo and Lucas Barillas, and Lindsay, Ethan, Gibson and Ainsley Daye. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Backhaus.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with a viewing from noon to 2 p.m. at Zion's EC Church with burial to follow in Zion EC Cemetery, Pitman. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, Overland Park.
