Thomas M. "Dinny" Caulfield Sr. Obituary

Thomas M. "Dinny" Caulfield Sr., 84, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning at Laurel Center, Hamburg.

Born Nov. 21, 1935, he was a son of Patrick M. and Mary M. Caulfield, Lost Creek.

Dinny was a 1953 graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School, St. Mary Magdalen grade school (Lost Creek) and a member of the Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah.

He proudly served his country as a corporal E-4 in the Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, N.C., 2nd Battalion, 2D Marine Division that was recognized as the first American Unit to land in Lebanon under Operation Blue Bat at the onset of the Lebanon Crisis, which was the first United States military combat operation in the Middle East.

Tom spent his career as a plumber with the United Association Local 524 Plumbers and Pipefitters, working on the construction of many nuclear power plants, industrial and institutional facilities in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.

Dinny will be most remembered as a dedicated, loyal, humble family man that devoted himself to caring for his loving wife, Beatrice. He was a true friend to many and was everyone's "Uncle Dinny."

His favorite passion was attending each and every one of his grandchildren's scholastic and sporting events. He spent most of his retired time at his beloved "Land" as a member of the Rodbenders Fishing Club in Ringtown. Tom was a member of the Phoenix Fire Company, Shenandoah AMVETS, Frackville Elks, and served as a volunteer coach for the Phoenix Little League baseball team and Annunciation-St. George CYO basketball team. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football, Villanova Basketball, Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Gay Caulfield, in 1996; a brother, James P. Caulfield, and sisters, Rose Caulfield Zimmerman and Anne Caulfield O'Pake.

Dinny is survived by sons, Thomas M. Caulfield Jr., husband of Christine Bokunewicz Caulfield and Patrick M. Caulfield; grandchildren, Kailee B. Caulfield, Bret T. Caulfield, Ryan P. Caulfield and Matthew C. Caulfield; cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Luther Ridge, Laurel Center and Compassus Hospice.
