Charles "Chas" Nush Obituary

Charles "Chas" Nush, 88, of Minersville, passed away Friday. Oct. 23, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born Jan. 15, 1932, in Minersville, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Zettick) Nush.

He was a member of the former St. George Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Minersville and Minersville American Legion Post 544.

Charles was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He was retired from the Department of Defense working at Fort Indiantown Gap. He was also employed at the former Pritz Auto Inc., Minersville. Chas was an avid bowler, and his bowling skills took him to tournaments all over the country.

He was the last member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna (Andrusyshyn) Nush, who passed away Dec. 29, 2008; sisters, Ann Kessock and Julia Ostafy; brothers, John (Frances), Joseph (Millie) and Walter (Mary) Nush.

Chas is survived by a stepson, Vincent Spinelle; stepdaughter, Antoinette Boltz; grandsons, Nicholas Spinelle, Jeffrey Boltz and Mark Boltz; granddaughters, Jenna Spinelle and Becky Olive; nieces and nephews, including caregivers, Monica (Nush) Teague and Frank Nush.

A visitation will be held with calling hours from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Thursday followed by a Service of the Great Panachida with the Very Rev. Gregory J. Noga officiating. Interment will be in St. George Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, all recommended social distancing, mask requirements and public safety guidelines will be followed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Hillside SPCA. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with the arrangements.
