Shirley M. (Hummel) Paleskie, 87, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Thursday night at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven. Born May 3, 1933, in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Viola (Owens) Hummel. Shirley was a graduate of Pine Grove Area High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a dietary aide at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center. Shirley was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and the former Annunciation BVM Church. She was a loving mom and nana who treasured her family. Surviving are her son, Donald Maberry and his wife, Linda, of Cressona; two grandsons, Donald Maberry Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Eric Maberry, of Cressona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Divine Mercy Church, 232 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held prior to Mass from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, in the church. All state and federal COVID-19 guidelines and regulations will be observed; masks and social distancing will be required.
