Harold Hans Hillje, 92, of McKeansburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. Harold was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Richmond Hill, N.Y., a son of the late Marie Meyer and Hans Hillje. He was the widower of Dorothy H. (Thoden) Hillje. He served in the Army as a corporal during the Korean War. He worked as a carpenter during his lifetime and was a member of the Carpenters Union of New York City. He was a Boy Scout master in Long Island, N.Y., and a member of the Steuben Society. He was predeceased by sisters, Ann Stoudt, of Shartlesville, and Wilma McEachern, of Uniondale, N.Y. Harold is survived by a daughter, Lee Anne Hillje, of Orwigsburg; two sons, Kevin, husband of Ellen Hillje, of Florida, and Michael Hillje, of McKeansburg; a grandson, Ryan Hillje. A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Orwigsburg, with the Rev. Kenneth T. Melber Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, McKeansburg.
