Ivan E. Header Obituary

Ivan E. Header, 74, of Sunbury, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at his residence.

He was born Saturday, June 8, 1946, in Ashland, a son of the late Roy Header and the late Mary (Kehler) Header.

Ivan served in the Navy, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, he served for 26 years in the Coast Guard Reserve.

He retired from Los Angeles Police Department.

He was a member of American Legion Post 504, Mandata.

Ivan was an avid bowler, horse shoe pitcher and enjoyed working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia L. (Weasel) Header, to whom he was married for 52 years. He is also survived by two sons, Mark A. Header, of Sunbury, and Matthew D. Header, of Harrisburg; three granddaughters, Ashley Header, of Muncy, Autumn Header, of Williamstown, and Keira Header, of Millersburg; a great-grandson, Zephyr Heilig; a great-granddaughter, Daphne Header; three sisters, Ellen Steele, of Lykens, Ruth Paul, of Reading, and Anna Erdman, of Elizabethville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Barry Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample, with the Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. COVID-19 policies will be followed for the visitation and the service. Masks will be required. Burial will be made in Salem Cemetery, Weishample. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com.
