Clarence W. "Shorty" Wallauer Jr., 95, of Pottsville, died Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street. He was born May 2, 1925, in Pottsville, a son of the late Clarence W. Sr. and Abigail Emerich Wallauer. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School. Shorty was employed by Lehigh Valley Dairy and Railroad Co. prior to retiring. Shorty was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, West End Hose Fire Company, and a social member of American Hose Fire Company, all of Pottsville. Throughout Shorty's life, he had a love for horses and also enjoyed riding horses. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Fox Wallauer, on March 3, 2002; two sisters, Louise Wallauer and Fren Dixon-Engelman; three brothers, Ray, Francis and Edward Wallauer. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville, with Pastor James R. Fidler officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 a.m. until the time of services. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 316 W. Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will be in Mount Laurel Cemetery, Bulls Head Road, Pottsville. Anyone attending is required to wear a mask.
