Elmer Brisse Obituary

Elmer J. "Lou" Brisse, 94

Richmond

Nov. 25, 1917 - Oct. 12, 2012

Elmer J. "Lou" Brisse, age 94, Richmond, MN died peacefully at Assumption Home in Cold Spring, MN on Friday, October 12, 2012.

Memorial Mass will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Richmond, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11 am at the church in Richmond prior to Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home in St. Cloud, MN.

Lou was born November 25, 1917 in Richmond, MN to John and Mary (Meyer) Brisse. He married Dorothy Torborg on May 12, 1943 in Richmond, MN. They owned the Gamble Store in Richmond for many years. Lou and Dorothy spent 20 winters in Mesa, AZ enjoying the warmth and many new friends.

He is loved and will be missed by two sons, Vernon (JoAnn) and Allen (Monique), and daughter, Diane (Gary). He loved his five grandchildren: Lisa, Eric, George (Emily), Dan (Melissa), Bre (Dale) and his 3 great grandson's, Mathew, Colin and Zealand. He is also survived by two of his sisters, Viola Duncan and Lillian Weirens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his brother, Melvin, and his sister, Celine Leyendecker.

Lou was an avid sportsman all of his life. He bowled in leagues at the Richmond Bowling Alley, he was a pitcher on the Richmond Baseball team, which is where he acquired the nickname "Lou", after Lou Gehrig. He started golfing in Paynesville in the 1950's and was one of the founders of the Rich-Spring Golf Course. He hit a hole-in-one at age 81.

Lou's family would like to extend their gratitude to Assumption Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their loving care.

Allen - Sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. After reading that your Dad helped start the golf course, it jogged my memory. I'm sure I remember my mom talking about golfing with your mom. I bet they had fun golfing and then visiting in the club house! Small world. Take care. Kasey and Mike Westra

Sorry to hear of your loss though I know you have been aware for some time that he was not doing well. I remember him as a humorous person who sure had the right car when we were in high school. Greetings to all of you, regret you lost both parents so close together. I am sure the loss of both is something most important for your lives
