Arlene S. Winkels

Paynesvile - Arlene S. Winkels, 76 of Paynesville formerly of Farming, died Monday, May 14, 2018 at Koronis Manor in Paynesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Catherine's Oratory in Farming. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday at St. Martin's Parish Hall in St. Martin. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville. www.hafh.org

Arlene Saraphine Winkels was born on November 30, 1941, on the family farm near St. Martin, the daughter of Edward and Theckla (Winter) Jonas. She attended country grade school near St. Martin. On April 15, 1964, Arlene was united in marriage with George Winkels at St. Martin Catholic Church. The couple raised three sons and one daughter. They made their home near Farming where Arlene worked as a homemaker. Arlene and George shared in 23 years of marriage before his death on May 14, 1987. Arlene lived in St. Martin before moving to Paynesville in 1999. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, quilting and visiting with family and friends.

Arlene is survived by her children Jim (Lisa) Winkels of Farming, Jeff (Kim) Winkels of Farming, JoAnn (Kam) Evenson of St. Cloud and Jerome (Cheri) Winkels of Spring Hill, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, twin sister, Darlene Hommerding and sister, Sally Douvier.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, George, parents and siblings Arnold, Clem, Ellen and Edmund.

The family extends warm appreciation for the care Arlene received at Washburne Court, Koronis Manor and the Paynesville Specialty Clinic.
