Margaret "Anne" Davidson

St. Cloud - Margaret "Anne" Davidson passed away at her home in St. Cloud, MN on May 5th. A celebration of life open house for friends, family and neighbors will be held in her home at 2213 Viking Dr., St. Cloud on May 29th, from 2-5 p.m. A second service will be held near her hometown of North Bay, Ontario in the summer as public health conditions allow.

Anne Mossington was born June 12,1945 in Weston, Ontario, Canada and grew up nearby in North Bay as the oldest of five children. As a young woman she loved track and field and shaped her sense of adventure, attending nursing school in Sault St. Marie, Ontario. On May 8, 1965 she married Raymond Davidson, a young American serviceman stationed on the U.S. side of the border, and the young couple promptly moved to the United Kingdom on the sort of adventure Anne had always dreamed of.

Over the next fifty-six years, Anne raised three children living in Scotland, California, Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, and Minnesota. Anne lived the longest in Rockford, Illinois and St. Cloud where she practiced real estate. For Anne, real estate was less about the dollars and cents, and more about making connections with people as they found new homes and communities. Anne was never part of a transaction that didn't include a new friend at closing.

Raising her children in McHenry and Rockford, Illinois, Anne was a "neighborhood Mom", and there was always a tribe of kids in her orbit as she gave out hugs, and when needed, parental advice. As her kids grew older, Anne was able to return to her travels, visiting her children and grandchildren in Canada, Ireland, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, England, and Scotland.

Anne remained a warm, open, and loving spouse, Mother and friend until the end. Always happy to meet new people, she never lost her quick wit, sarcasm, and occasional stubborn streak, but always led and finished with love and a hug. An avid reader, her whole life, the ratio of books read to purchased in recent years probably fell to 1 in 4, but they provided her comfort and adventure at home. As all who met her would know, after her family, Anne was most proud of being Canadian. She spent the majority of her life happily living in the U.S., but she never lost her love of Canada. This connection to Canada, and to her family there, let her live her life in her special way, as both a Canadian citizen and American in spirit.

Anne is survived by her husband Ray, son and daughter-in-law Mark Davidson and Melanie St. Clair, son Mike Davidson, daughter Tara Young, grandchildren Piper Davidson, Robert Young, and Jasper Davidson, brothers Mike and Stuart Mossington, and sister Patricia Mossington. She was preceded in death by newborn son Gary and her brother Doug Mossington.
