Sauk Rapids - Thomas J. "Jim" Hyslop, age 87 of Sauk Rapids died Saturday at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids. Funeral services will be 4 pm Wednesday June 13, 2018 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids. His son in law, Richard Heitke will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be at Benton Cemetery in Sauk Rapids. Visitation will begin at 2pm on Wednesday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Tom was born June 27, 1930 in East Chicago, Indiana to Thomas W. & Mae Agnes (Doherty) Hyslop. He moved at a young age to Sauk Rapids and grew up and graduated from Sauk Rapids High School in 1948. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force from March of 1950-August of 1953. He married Clara M. Ellis on September 25, 1954 at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Graham Township. Tom worked at the St. Cloud Hospital, Murphy Ambulance and taught first aid classes for many years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Cloud and also a member of the Sauk Rapids VFW post # 6992, Benton County Cemetery Board, Rice American Legion Post # 473, American Federation of Musicians, St. Cloud local. Tom was a car enthusiast and loved to buy and have old antique cars. He was also a friend of Bill W for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Clara of Sauk Rapids, daughter, Beverly (Richard) Heitke of Makinen; and 3 grandchildren, Ruth, Joseph and David Heitke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son James H., and brother, William Parolini.
