Rene S. Arsenault

KITTERY POINT, Maine - Rene S. Arsenault, 69, of Kittery Point, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the York Hospital in York, Maine. He was born on September 24, 1946, in Portland, Maine, a son of the late Denys G. Sr. and Mary (Sulis) Arsenault. Rene was a graduate of Traip Academy Class of 1965.

Rene was a combat veteran, serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart for his brave service.

He was formerly employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a rigger; but his passion was being a lobster fisherman, for many years.

Rene loved boating and being on the water.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth (Hammons) Arsenault of Kittery Point; daughter, Jennifer Arsenault of Dewey, Ariz.; twin brother, Denys Arsenault Jr., of Kittery Point; half-sisters, Cheryl Hoffman of Norwich, Conn., and Lisa Smith of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; step children, Brian Sullivan of Georgetown, Mass., Susan Simpson of Kennebunk, Maine, Russell Sullivan of Nashua and Carol Basade of Essex Junction, Vt.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: A time of visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, August 28, 2016, at the J. S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 29, 2016, at St. Raphael's Church, 6 Whipple Road, Kittery, Maine. Interment with full military honors will be held at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Springvale, Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The , Department of Maine, P.O. Box 3415, Augusta, Maine, 04330.
