I had been in contact with his brother Vincent recently, but only just read of his death. I first met Mitch on a field trip at Camp Parsons in 1950. At least one of my Briscoe teachers told me of having met the family at Idaho internment. I then found Mitch in my home room all four years at O'Dea along with his friend at that time, Paul Dario who had been in my fourth grade class at Briscoe. We talked for awhile at our 60th O'Dea class reunion six years ago. I don't remember ever having conversation with Theophane, who was a year ahead of us at O'Dea or with Joseph, who was two years behind, although I remember scoring an Immaculate Conception eighth grade game Joe played in at the O'Dea gym. Perhaps I will get to meet Vincent and some of the other Matsudairas especially after all this recent anti-asian nonsense is over. I never experienced anything but respect among all the O'Dea students and faculty!

He was one my best friends in High School (my first true boyfriend) and my truly best reliable
friend in the whole world (besides hi sister, IDA). I was fortunate enough to know him. I will miss him as a friend along with my husband who I lost just 7 months ago. RIP Mich...I'll never forget you nor the fun we had together.
