Gertrude (Copeland) ZARKIN September 12, 1914 ~ May 20, 2011 Gertie was born in Toronto, Canada and was raised in Spokane, graduating from Lewis and Clark H.S. Gertie married Philip H. Zarkin in 1937; they were married for nearly 67 years when he passed away May 10, 2004. She was a member of Spokane's Temple Emanu El and later Temple Beth Shalom, and served as women's B'nai B'rith president. She was the fiscal secretary at Lewis and Clark H.S., retiring in 1976, then traveling to Europe, Norway and Israel with Phil. They moved to AZ in 1979, living there for 20 years and settling in Seattle in 1999. She is survived by her son, David Zarkin, MN, her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Louis Isquith, Seattle, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, in-laws Sam and Shirley Zarkin, Mercer Island, and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held May 23, Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Spokane.
