I became good friends with Katy in 1970 when we both resided at Mary Elizabeth Inn, 1040 Bush St., San Francisco. A few years later she visited me in New Orleans, and we took a wonderful trip along the Gulf Coast. I took a few snapshots of her during a visit to Bellingrath Gardens an on an evening riverboat trip. Katy had brought me a beautiful gold chain, which I still treasure, and a French-drip enamel coffee pot. For years I received a hand painted Christmas card depicting a bird. I lost those cards and the coffee pot in Katrina. Katy was a stunning, smart, auburn-haired beauty with a caring soul and ready smile.
