Bertha D. DAVIS Beloved by family, friends, and students Bertha passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Her inspiration, humor and love will continue to impact all those she knew. Born in Seattle in 1914 and long time resident of Ballard she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband (Walt), son-in-law Doug Hoover, and great granddaughter, Payton B. Reese. She is survived by her three daughters Carol Hoover, Karuna Davis, and Judy Harper (Mike); five grandchildren Jeff Hoover (Kristi), Tami Reese (Rob), Karin Hoover (Dave), Jason Harper (Lisa), and Nicole Fenton (John); and seven great grandsons Cameron and Mason Hoover, Todd and Tyler Reese, Brandon and Blake Fenton, and Cody Harper. Earning a bachelor and masters degree from the University of Washington Bertha was a beloved teacher in Ballard for over twenty five years where she taught thousands of students and remembered them all. Just two weeks prior to her passing she was doing what she loved best, teaching Mason Hoover every week. As a community activist she was busy in many organizations and with many projects in Ballard, most recently getting the Ballard Bell to ring. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Ballard First Lutheran Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ballard First Lutheran Church on June 9, 2011 at 2pm.
