Chieko Becker Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and teacher of Chanoyu and Ikebana died peacefully on October 25, 2018, surrounded by family. Born in Kyoto, Japan, 95 years ago, she is survived by her husband of 64 years, Miles S. Becker, her two daughters, Kathryn Szabla and Joanne Emmons, and their families.
Loved by all, whether she was living in the Deep South, Germany, or Japan, Chieko-san was a woman of elegant style and generous spirit. With her positive outlook and encouraging nature, she connected deeply with others.
Chieko's home was filled with Japanese floral arrangements and antiques from around the world, and she welcomed everyone with a hot cup of tea, as well as a number of animals who found their way to the Becker home and stayed.
We will miss her forever. She made the world a special place.
There will be no memorial service. Condolences can be mailed to the Becker family at 20157 Sixth Avenue NE, Shoreline, WA 98155.

A beautiful lady. Her daughter Joanne was my mentor in H.S. at Spanaway Lake. Mrs. Becker visited our school many times. A presence I still remember quite fondly!

I will always remember Chieko for her talent, beauty and gentle spirit. She was the soul of the Ichiyo School and Ikebana for Tacoma II. Those of us who knew her will never forget her. I remember her arranging her beautiful Ikebana and thanking the flowers and branches for their beauty and gracefulness. She was as beautiful as they.
I am thankful to have known her and only wish her God's richest blessings. My deepest sympathy to you, her dear family.
