I still think about Dean some 40-plus years since my last contact with him. He had a positive influence on my engineering career.I think about Dean with fond memories. It was a treat to work with Dean and watch him solve problems and charm clients as he smoked his pipe. Dean Ratti should be studied on how to win friends and influence emplotees and clients.

Dean, was truly the Renaissance of engineers reborn. He was an artist, mathematician, and scholar. He liked people and enjoyed various personalities. What a great honor it was to work with Dean.

While running a busy practice, Dean taught structures to UW CM students three decades ago. On behalf of his colleagues and students, our condolences to his family. RIP, Dean.

Dean was one of the all time great guys and a mentor to so many including me. He will be missed by so many including me.
