Dorothy Jane Stariha Norgaard BUDDRIUS 1917 ~ 2011 She was born in Seattle, Washington on December 19, 1917 to Anton and Angela Stariha (Cvar). She attended Seattle Public Schools and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1936. She worked in various jobs until 1940, at which time she was employed by the State Unemployment Department in Olympia, Washington. In 1942, she was transferred to the War Manpower Commission in Seattle where she worked until her enlistment in the U.S. Navy WAVES in July 1943, serving as Telegrapher in the Zone Communications Office in San Diego and Los Angeles, California. She was discharged November 1945 as Telegrapher First Class, at which time she took a secretarial course at business school under the GI Bill for Veterans. She married Alfred Ragnvald Norgaard in December 1947, in Seattle and had three sons - Alfred R. Jr., Thomas and John. In the intermittent years until her husband's death in April 1967, she worked as a Postal Clerk at the Post Office Terminal to Secretary at the Regional office of the Post Office Department in Seattle. On August 5, 1969, she married Richard L. Buddrius and moved to Almira, Washington where he was a Rural Route Carrier for the Post Office. After Richard's retirement in November 1975, they moved to Leavenworth, Washington, where they resided until Richard's death in September 2007, after which she moved to Kent, Washington. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Alfred (Ronny) Jr.; two brothers, John and Frank Stariha; sister, Anna Wilds; and one stepson Donald Buddrius.She is survived by her sons Thomas and John; stepsons and daughter, David, Dennis, and Marilynne A. Wilson; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Local funeral service will be held Thursday, June 2nd, 1:00 p.m. at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel in Kent. Dorothy and Richard were members of Faith Lutheran Church of Leavenworth, Washington since 1975.A memorial service will also be held there on June 7th at 2:00 p.m. Burial to be at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle and Almira Cemetery.
