Obituary Condolences

Dorothy Maureen Monson HAHLER May 2, 1934 ~ March 11, 2010 In loving memory of our Mother on the first anniversary of her passing. A mother, a wife, an educator and a friend, Dorothy valued her family and friends most of all. For many years Dorothy was a Health and Physical Education teacher at Chief Sealth High School. She placed a high value on learning and was committed to making an impact on the students she taught. Dorothy carried this value into her personal life and strived to continue learning, improving and exploring new areas in her life. Mom was a devoted and loving mother who was very proud of each of her children and grandchildren; always standing by us and wanting the best for us in our lives, relationships and spirit. Mom taught us to love, to take risks, to be kind, to be giving and be responsible for our actions. Along with her family, gardening, sports, knitting and cooking fed her love for life. Mom died from complications of Leukemia. Dorothy is survived by her children and their families: Patricia Hahler Morgan & Randy Morgan of Seattle, WA, Katherine & Michael Duclos of New York City, NY, Marie Hahler & Liz Kirk of Seattle; grandchildren: TC Elliott III, Nicholas Elliott, Kaitlin Morgan, David Kirk-Hahler and Carl Kirk-Hahler, and many more family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Hahler, and their son, Ted Hahler of Sitka, AK and St. John, USVI. Funeral Mass was held at Holy Rosary Church, March 16, 2010. Dorothy will be buried at the Elim Cemetery in Kenedy, Texas. Donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Dorothy's honor are appreciated.
