Obituary Condolences

Douglas Frann BROWN Doug was born August 15, 1951. He was one of five children, all of whom counted on him for his leadership and guidance after his father died in 1969. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1970 and married his high-school sweetheart Nancy Ann Reynolds in 1971. He served in the Army for three years. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Civil Engineering in 1982. In 1991 he and Nancy and their children Kimberly and Jason moved to Vashon Island. He worked for King County since 1986 as a building inspector and then as as an engineer in Water and Land Resources where he worked on flood control and salmon restoration. He served as president of IFPTE Local 17 for three years. He built two homes for his family and helped two siblings with their homes. In 2010 he developed leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant in September. He struggled with the side effects of immune suppression and developed pneumonia; he died peacefully on May 31, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Jason (Angie) Brown, daughter Kimberly (Rico) Gallo, precious granddaughter Fiona Sophia Gallo, his mother Viola Brown McCartney, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. His grandson Jackson Douglas Brown is due any day. He loved to fish, boat, dig clams, work on his house, and spend time with family and friends. Doug was our rock and anchor and though he will be sorely missed, we will determinedly enjoy life and love each other deeply as we know he would have it no other way. A celebration of Doug's life was held Saturday, June 11. Sign Doug's on-line Guest Book at www.Legacy.com.
