Elaine Marguerite Carlock Johnson
Age 84, passed away June 2, 2013 at her home in Seattle. Born September 20, 1928 in Fort Sheridan, IL to Col. Willard B. and Ethel J. Carlock, Elaine graduated in 1945 from University High School in Normal IL, attended UC Berkeley and graduated from UT Austin in 1949. She married Willard P. Johnson in 1949 in Galveston TX and pursued graduate study in Special Education at UT, U of Houston, and SF State. They moved to CA, OR and NY before settling in the Seattle area in 1959, where Elaine lived ever since. They had five children and divorced in 1973. Elaine worked at Bellevue Community College from 1963-'73 as a Parent and Early Childhood Education Instructor, and at Neighborhood House Childcare Centers in Seattle from 1973-'85, when she became a real estate agent at John L. Scott. She was devoted to her family and dedicated to the education and welfare of all children. She was an avid reader and played bridge, enjoyed the arts, and was a member of the University Unitarian Church. She is pre-deceased by her infant son David Charles, her parents, her sister Dorothy Lee Carlock and Willard Johnson. She is survived by her children Kristin (Rick Stoner), Stephen (Susan Omura), Katherine, and Matthew (Janis Fulton), and her five grandchildren.
