At Berkeley George met Marjorie Fisher, of Seattle and they were married in 1943. George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on a hospital ship in the Pacific. In 1944, he and Marjorie had a daughter Laurie, but soon after, Marjorie passed away and George became a single parent. He had several offices around Seattle over a sixty year career. He was a staunch Democrat in a Republican Bellevue neighborhood and was a delegate to the Democratic Conventions of 1964 and 1968. He was an ardent golfer and a member of Glendale Country Club for over sixty years, serving as President and Board Member.
