Harry Speiser

Harry Speiser passed at the age of 91 on July 7, 2012 at his home in Edmonds, Washington. He was born May 7, 1921 in Greencastle, Missouri.

In 1940 he accepted a position with the War Department in Washington D.C. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1942 and was honored and privileged to have served as a P-40 and P-38 fighter pilot with the 11th Air Force during WWII.

After WWII, Harry finished his education at Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. with a master degree in Business. He also attended the University of Washington.

Harry became a Certified Public Accountant in 1951. After a stint in public accounting and further experience in the private accounting field, Harry joined Univar Corporation (and VWR Corporation) where he served 25 plus years in various capacities with the last 20 years as the Corporate Secretary.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, of 38 years; his daughter, Denise Townsend of Woodinville: son Todd H. Speiser of Bothell; Stepson Raymond G. Burns (Vicki) of Everett; Stepson Randall E. Burns of Edmonds and grandson Guy M. Townsend, VI of Woodinville.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00pm Monday July 16, 2012 Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills Cemetery. Bring your smiles-hope you can make it.
