James Anthony HERNDON James Anthony Herndon, professional vessel captain and a native of Ballard, Washington, passed away on January 17, 2011 at his home in Camano Island, WA., at the age of 62. Jim is survived by his beloved wife Carol, mother Kay Herndon, sister Molly, son Daniel and daughter Jennifer Gould; two grandchildren, Katie and Bobby Gould; aunt, Betty Herndon; cousins, Joy Mers, Mona Lee, Van Herndon A distinguished graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1970, Jim spent 40 years as captain on towing and small freight vessels sailing on domestic and international waters. From the Gulf of Alaska to the Caribbean Islands, Jim was very much at home on the high seas. He was a proud member of the Masonic Fraternity and was active in three Lodges, Camano #19, Langley #218 and Occidental #72. Jim also belonged to the Shrine and other Masonic organizations. A memorial service will be held at the Masonic Lodge #19, in Stanwood, WA. on February 12, 2011 at 1 PM.
